Why is it that you love someone with your heart, when you are not sure if they love you as much as you did?
Why is it that you bring up the children with more than you can, when you are not sure if they would be at you beck and call in your old age?
Why is it that you think about good deeds and salvation, when you are not sure what happens after death?
Why is it that you value someone’s opinion, when you are not sure they are worth it?
Why is it that you adjust in every relationship, when you are unsure others involved would reciprocate?
Why is it that you settle down for something superficial, when you are not sure if it is permanent?
Why is it that you pray, when you are not sure whom you are praying to and if your prayer would be answered?
Why is it that you always think of future when there is a lot to live at present?
Why do you waste time thinking of meaningless emotions?
Why cannot you be selfish?
Why?

Filipino

I thank my previous organisation for having their business branch opened in Philippines and giving me a chance to go there. I never knew the archipelago to be a tourist spot and also favourite among the westerners. The whole country is made up of 7,107 islands and the scenic beauty is impeccable.
I stayed in Metro Manila for 5 months and I never regret my stay even though it is a long time away from family. I visited all the beaches around Manila and each beach had its own specialty. The beaches were named after the colour of their sand banks – white sand beach, gold sand beach etc. The shells you get on these beaches are unimpeachable. Also worth mentioning are the gem stones of this region, which are second to none. Turquoise blue, Jade, Corals and not least fresh water pearls in pink, black and white.
All the beaches have shallow banks and most of them allow banana boat rides and snorkelling to see the great coral wonders on the banks. You could see dolphins in the middle of the South China Sea if you decide to take a boat ride on one of the locally made rides. Puertogalera is one of the hottest destinations if you would like to spend a night or so on the beach.
The active volcano of Tagaytai is a feast for eyes if you are game to go on a horseback for about 10 miles to climb the length of the volcano. The feeling of standing and looking into the crate with the sulphur fumes in the air, gives an eerie churn in your gut. The horses are trained to climb the mountain and leave you at a specific spot – so you need not worry if you are not an experienced horse rider.
The water falls of Paksanjan are quite a sight. It takes a whole day to reach there as the path towards them goes winding around mountains and jungle and the only way to reach there is on hand rowed boats. The pathway is so narrow and full of rapids, so there is no question of motor engines. It is worth a ride if you wish to see the Winding River and jungle surrounding it.
The Filipinos are second to none in hospitality as well. They are heart warming people, quite jovial, full of culture and quite different from India. More than half of the population is women and hence it surely has a lot of influence on the sexuality of men.

Serinity
Would you like to live in the middle of the hustle and bustle or a place where you can find your own peace in a tranquil suburb? Given a chance, I would choose the suburbs as it gives me privacy and peace of mind. I am not a people person even though I would never miss an opportunity to observe and interpret. At the same time I would never miss an opportunity to socialize and get to meet new people within the limits of being civil. Finally what do I want? I am unsure!!!
I am used to being alone most of the time- I have a 3 desk office for myself at work (not because I am big, just that there are no other data analysis people) with 3 phones where people never call in or out. There is no one on the road while walking back home and finally no one at home if I do not work that odd hour… justifying the situation may be I like peace and calm..
May be its destiny or is it fate? Or self-restraint – an eccentric world

Ode to Life
A gleam of sunshine through the downpour,
A streak of rainbow through the hills,
A flutter of wings in the woods
A whiff of delicate foliage
The dark night,
The deep sorrow,
The long wait
The dream wish…
A poetic ponder
A faraway jingle
A meandering river
A mystic moon
The dream of home,
The ray of hope
The dash of colour
The hope in life
A streak of rainbow through the hills,
A flutter of wings in the woods
A whiff of delicate foliage
The dark night,
The deep sorrow,
The long wait

The ray of hope
The dash of colour

Accent and a Slang
I think I qualify to provide my honest opinion on language and accent of different people around 3 different continents. During my incessant travels in west, I came to know that different people have different ways of speaking the same language. English – being a foreign dialect to Indian I am not wrong in saying that it has become the virtual mother tongue of very many people so far.
Globalisation - for my early years was able to understand Americanised English and follow the witty dialogues in Friends (this show being the only one showing on Z-cafe 10 years back). My perception changed along the years and now it’s the ability of India doing business with the top-notch firms and Indian youth being able to challenge the inadvertent fall of the global economy.
Getting back to accent and slang – I can proudly say that I always understood any kind of accent, but slang is a different ball game. I have always been a language enthusiast but I would never admit that I know it all. I was surprised to know that there are lots of accents in the United States as well. My first visit to the mighty land was to Boston with its varied history and the majestic River Charles. During my brief visit I learnt that there was daily speak and a native speak – (trust me first few days I did not notice the difference because for me Bostonian accent or not it was just English)
Getting on with every day conversation and because of my training profile I had to mimic the accent to make an impression with the class. Now I can differentiate between Texan accent, the deep southern accent, the northern or the more generalized accent of English and also Canadian from all of the above.
Staying in UK is a marvellous experience as I always dreamt English people spoke the good old Oxford English straight out of the dictionary. (I admit I even imagined people to be talking like Julius Caesar – How art thou? From my age old Shakespeare books). I had to start all over again on my accent research as I have English accent, Scottish (Highlands and Midlands), Welsh and Irish which I could identify so far..
Slang – I can never differentiate a swear word from slang as I have been observing a group of oldies as well as a group of high school brats. Both the groups use the same slang for different purposes. I have learnt a few but it would not be the ideal launch pad for all the slang I have learnt, as I have to be the moderator here folks!!
Bloke, Geezer – terms for a man
Bird, Lassie – terms for a woman
Wee – Scottish term for little, small, young – personal or impersonal
These are some of the better ones I can politically write in a public domain. The funniest of all the terms is ‘aye’ when you respond with a ‘yes’ both in Scottish and English. It reminds me of the agricultural folk in east Godavari district when they say ‘aye’ at the end of every sentence – who knows they might have got it from the Brits.
Disclaimer: None of this is a copyright so you can use it however you wish!!

Live, Love and Laugh..

I know I have advanced a lot many donkeys’ years from being a toddler but sometimes I still feel the inner child in me. I am sure most of you would feel the same way when you come across a childhood artefact or just simply the thought of those gorgeous years. I thank god and I can say that I am fortunate enough to have experienced unconditional love at different stages of my life so far…
What is Love?? I can never explain but I sure do know the meaning changes along life’s own perspective. I love being a child so that you can get on with anything and everything you ask for. I always remember the days when I used to play gully cricket with my brother and his friends. I cannot count how numerous was my friends list and how jolly were the birthday parties in our quaint little street.
My sweet brother and I were always partners in crime during those initial years trying to steal unripe mangoes by throwing a stone at the massive trees. Summer was havoc with different activities and I do miss my brother’s unconditional childhood love whenever I see a green mango.
Another love of my life or I’d rather say my primary love was towards books. I have this unusual habit of not leaving a book until its completely read. I have taken a liking towards fiction during my primary years of schooling. Nancy Drew was my all time favourite and it grew up towards reading Sidney Sheldon, Dan Brown, Ayn Rand and many more. Being mama’s gal always had its own advantage as I could always have my favourites without having to ask, both from my Mom as well as my big bro’.
After all these years in a far away land I have become a child again and I experience the unconditional love of my sweetheart. I demand huge teddies, trips around faraway places and sometimes for no reason I become wild and outspoken… but my tantrums are always dealt with a smile and all my demands fulfilled..(by all I truly mean all of them without any exception) and I thank god for such a lovely gift…
